Water is the primary source for all life on planet Earth, and as such, it is a critical resource for all of us. As humans grapple with changes to our environment due to climate change, it is important to safeguard this resource for future inhabitants. We see changes affecting many parts of the globe: for example, the drying up of the Colorado river and other areas threatened by drought; the melting of glaciers and of large portions of the Arctic and Antarctic threaten coastal cities worldwide as sea levels rise; the polluting of the world’s oceans due to microplastics, petrochemicals, and industrial noises caused by vessels, mining operations, and other industrial projects.
In this exhibition, art students respond to the prompt Sounds of Water, creating a series of audio compositions.
